Global Gender Gap Index 2026 India की नई तस्वीर, Gender Parity Score में कितना बदलाव?

भारत की gender equality को लेकर World Economic Forum की नई रिपोर्ट सामने आ गई है। Global Gender Gap Index 2026 India में देश की overall gender parity 64.5% दर्ज की गई, जो पिछले साल के मुकाबले मामूली सुधार है। हालांकि India की global ranking में कोई बदलाव नहीं हुआ और वह 145 economies में 131वें स्थान पर बना रहा। WEF की यह रिपोर्ट gender parity को चार प्रमुख dimensions- Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival और Political Empowerment- के आधार पर मापती है। 2026 इस index का 20वां edition है।

India Rank Gender Gap 2026 में देश 131वें स्थान पर कायम है। WEF के अनुसार India का individual score थोड़ा बेहतर हुआ, लेकिन दूसरे देशों की performance और overall ranking calculation को देखते हुए उसकी position नहीं बदली। 2025 में भी India इसी rank पर था। भारत ने 2006 के मुकाबले overall gender parity में 4.3 percentage points का सुधार किया है। हालांकि WEF के अनुसार यह long-term progress मुख्य रूप से Educational Attainment में हुई gains से जुड़ी है, जबकि economic और political dimensions में gaps अब भी ज्यादा हैं। 145 economies वाली इस ranking में India से नीचे केवल 14 economies हैं। WEF की 2026 ranking में Chad सबसे नीचे रहा, जबकि Iran और Pakistan भी bottom group में शामिल रहे।

Global Gender Gap Index 2026 India का 64.5% score यह बताता है कि index में इस्तेमाल किए गए indicators के आधार पर India ने महिलाओं और पुरुषों के बीच मापे गए gender gap का लगभग दो-तिहाई हिस्सा बंद किया है। इसे महिलाओं की कुल स्थिति का एकमात्र माप नहीं माना जाना चाहिए, बल्कि चार specific dimensions पर comparative indicator के रूप में समझना चाहिए।

WEF की methodology के अनुसार index का score 0 से 1 के scale पर होता है और उसे percentage के रूप में interpret किया जाता है कि gender gap का कितना हिस्सा बंद हुआ है। Ranking उस साल दूसरे economies की तुलना में relative position बताती है। वैश्विक स्तर पर 2026 में gender gap 69.2% तक बंद हुआ, जो पिछले साल से 0.4 percentage points ज्यादा है। इसके बावजूद WEF का अनुमान है कि मौजूदा गति जारी रहने पर global gender parity हासिल करने में करीब 120 वर्ष लग सकते हैं।

India के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौतियों में से एक Economic Participation and Opportunity बनी हुई है। 2026 में इसका parity score 41.2% रहा, जो पिछले edition से 0.5 percentage points ज्यादा है। हालांकि यह 2013 के India के best score 44.6% से अभी भी 3.5 percentage points कम है। Professional और technical occupations में महिलाओं की representation में लंबे समय में उल्लेखनीय सुधार हुआ है। WEF के अनुसार यह parity score 2006 में 26.6% से बढ़कर 2026 में 49.9% हो गया। लेकिन senior positions में तस्वीर अभी कमजोर है। Legislators, senior officials और managers के category में gender parity 2006 के मुकाबले 10 percentage points बढ़ी है, फिर भी 2026 में इसका score सिर्फ 13.1% है। Labour-force participation parity भी दो दशकों में बहुत सीमित गति से बढ़ी और 2026 में 44.1% रही।

Education India के strongest areas में बना हुआ है। Educational Attainment में देश का gender parity score 96.6% रहा। हालांकि यह पिछले साल के मुकाबले 0.5 percentage points कम है। WEF के अनुसार India ने secondary और tertiary enrolment में full parity बनाए रखी है। Adult literacy parity का score 82.5% है और इसमें पिछले साल की तुलना में 2.7 percentage points की गिरावट आई है। फिर भी 2006 के 65.2% से देखें तो adult literacy parity में लंबी अवधि में 17.4 percentage points का सुधार हुआ है। यानी education के क्षेत्र में India ने gender gap को काफी हद तक कम किया है, लेकिन literacy जैसे indicators में अभी भी कुछ अंतर बाकी है।

Health and Survival में India का parity score 2026 में 95.6% रहा। WEF के अनुसार इस dimension में देश के score में पिछले edition के मुकाबले सुधार हुआ है। हालांकि sex ratio at birth को लेकर gap पूरी तरह खत्म नहीं हुआ है। रिपोर्ट के अनुसार 2026 में यह indicator 2006 की तुलना में लगभग एक percentage point नीचे बना हुआ है। 2017 के बाद इसमें improvement की trajectory जरूर दिखाई देती है।

India का सबसे ऊंचा subindex rank Political Empowerment में है। यहां देश ने gender gap का 24.5% हिस्सा बंद किया है और इस subindex में उसकी global rank 67वीं है। इसके बावजूद political representation से जुड़े कई indicators में gender gap काफी बड़ा है। Parliament में 2026 में parity score 16.1% रहा, जो 2006 के मुकाबले 7 percentage points का improvement है। Ministerial representation का score 5.9% है, जो 2006 के 3.5% से बेहतर है, लेकिन 2019 के 30% के peak से काफी नीचे है। Head-of-state indicator में भी उतार-चढ़ाव रहा है। India का score 2006 में 42.9% था, जो index के पहले दशक में 72.3% तक पहुंचा, लेकिन 2021 के बाद घटकर 40.7% रह गया।

2026 में Iceland 93% parity score के साथ पहले स्थान पर रहा। Finland 87.2% के साथ दूसरे और Norway 85.7% के साथ तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। तीनों देशों ने लगातार तीसरे साल podium positions बनाए रखे। Namibia 84.5% score के साथ चौथे स्थान पर पहुंचा, जबकि United Kingdom पांचवें और New Zealand छठे स्थान पर रहे। Sweden, Australia, Germany और Ireland ने भी top 10 में जगह बनाई। Australia पहली बार top 10 में पहुंचा। WEF के अनुसार Iceland एकमात्र economy है जिसने overall gender gap का 90% से ज्यादा हिस्सा बंद किया है। 2026 में कोई भी economy full gender parity तक नहीं पहुंची।

रिपोर्ट के आंकड़ों से स्पष्ट है कि India में education और health जैसे क्षेत्रों में parity comparatively ज्यादा है, जबकि economic participation और political representation में gap बड़ा बना हुआ है। Economic Participation में सिर्फ 41.2% parity और senior leadership category में 13.1% score इस अंतर को दिखाते हैं। दूसरी ओर education में 96.6% parity बताती है कि सभी dimensions की progress एक जैसी नहीं है। WEF ने global level पर भी यही trend रेखांकित किया है कि economic opportunity और political empowerment में progress education और health की तुलना में धीमी है। 2026 में global Political Empowerment score 22.1% रहा, जबकि Educational Attainment 96.9% और Health and Survival 96.2% तक पहुंचा।

2026 की report में gender equality को emerging AI economy से भी जोड़ा गया है। WEF के मुताबिक महिलाएं AI sector में अभी भी underrepresented हैं और AI engineers में उनकी हिस्सेदारी one in five से कम है। Report का कहना है कि महिलाओं ने C-suite और Cabinets तक पहुंच बनाई है, लेकिन ज्यादा economic और political influence वाले पदों में उनका representation अभी सीमित है। वैश्विक स्तर पर महिलाओं के पास CEO roles का सिर्फ 19.1% हिस्सा है। यह trend भविष्य के employment और technology landscape के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है, क्योंकि AI और high-value technology jobs का महत्व लगातार बढ़ रहा है।
